Abandoned converted slave hut, Mason Hall St, Bridgetown, Barbados

This is a house fashioned out of a former slave hut. The original hut was constructed from local limestone. The original roof was replaced by a galvanize (corrugated iron) one, the fence added and jalousie (slatted) door and windows installed. A few original slave huts remain largely intact throughout the island. This one probably has not been lived in for sometime, although a tiny few are actually lived in today.
