Y., took prizes for carna- tions. Lager & Hurrell, Summit. N. J., secured numerous prizes for orch- ids. Prizes for orchids were also awarded Joseph A. Manda. West Orange. N. J., and Samuel Untermeyer. The Julius Roehrs Co., Rutherford. N. J., had a fine exhibit of flowering and foliage plants, but not in competi- tion. Other noteworthy exhibitors were: Wm. B. Thompson, Yonkers, N. Y. (R. F. Cushman, gardener); Percy Chubb, Glen Cove, N. X. (Alex. Mac- Kenzie, gardener); Miss Cockcroft, Saugatuck, Conn. (Adam Peterson, gardener) ; Miss Bliss, New Caanan, Conn. (J. T. Burns, gardener); Mrs. W. E. Griswold, Lenox, Mass. (A. J. Loveless, gardener): Chas. Malloy. Portchester, N. Y. (Wm. Sidley, gard- ener). The attendance on Saturday, Nov- ember 2, was very large, a constant line of visitors pouring through the rooms during the hours the exhibition was open, but on account of the ex- cellent management there w-as no crowding or confusion. The gossips said that Samuel Untermeyer sent west for the man who had won prizes for him before; that there were large bets made' on the result of the compe- tition; that Totty's rose Mrs. Shaw- yer is a winner; that Geo. V. Nash and Jos. A. Manda are the right men to conduct an exhibition. A great throng attended the exhibi- tion on Sunday, November 3. A not- able vase of the rose Radiance was exhibited by Traendly* & Schenck. Spectators were surprised at the length of the stems. The white
