Yellowish olive above, silvery beneath; 10 or 11 dark bars across the back, the first between the eyes, sometimes replaced by transverse series of large squarish spots ; yellow lines may be present along the series of scales ; fins yellowish, dorsal with olive marblings; pectoral and anal red at the base.
