H., July 18, family on his fathers side is of Swiss origin, and onhis mothers side, English. Early in the seventeenthcentury two brothers named Tell came from the Cantonof Berne, Switzerland, and settled in Massachusetts,from the elder of whom Mr. Teele is descended. Fortwo or three generations the name Tell was retained, asshown by records ofreal estate transfers,but for some reasonwas changed to Teele added thefinal e in 1867,simply as a matter oftaste, and that changehas since beenadopted by all per-sons of that name inMassachusetts so faras known.
