Margaret McDermott Bridge Construction
The arch pieces for the Margaret McDermott are being fabricated in Florida. The fabled fabricator also fabricated the round dome at Epcot Center, the park run by the Disneyworld outside Orlando. Santiago Calatrava's first and signature bridge in Dallas was completed about two years ago and is known as the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. Locals call her the Maggie 1. The current construction is downriver and under a mile from the signature bridge and will be known as the Margaret McDermott Birdge or Maggie 2 as the locals have already identified with. These two bridges west of downtown Dallas in what is know as the Trinity River Corridor, is part of the largest single Urban development anywhere in the United States. The river corridor runs 20 miles through the Great Trinity Forest of some 6,000 acres. The Dallas Audobon Society. The new Dallas Horse Park, an equestrian center, and the Trinity Forest Golf Course, currently under development, are all parts of the early stages in the development. The westward and southern growth of Dallas will be crown jewels to a crown that already contains gems. The PGA Byron Nelson Classic, which will be leaving Las Colinas at Cottonwood, is reported to have plans to be moving to Trinity Forest when it is completed.
