This wide margin of profit in favor of the live-stock farmer. Fig. -Beef cattle and hogs in a feed lot, showing a method of feeding which utilizes labor during the winter months. is due primarily to two reasons, the most important of which is that the crop men sold their corn at about 41 cents per bushel. (See Table XXV.) The live-stock farmer fed his corn to hogs, which he sold at a price ranging from 7| to 9 cents a pound. Many men also fed cattle, which likewise sold on a high market.
