16th century geometrical artwork by Leonardo da Vinci. The geometrical shape is a polyhedron with pentagonal (5-sided) and hexagonal (6-sided) sides meshing to form a spherical shape. This is similar to the geodesic domes designed in the 1940s and to the structure of fullerene molecules discovered in the 1990s. Artwork published in Pacioli's Divina proportione (1509).
