A plaque in the porch of the church of Notre Dame de l'Assomption in Samoens commemorating a visit by Joanni Petro Bior Bishop of Geneva. There is a bishop’s coat of arms topped by a mitre and crozier and an ecclesiastical hat, a galero, from which are suspended ten tassels on each side, indicating a bishop. The inscription reads ‘Joanni Petro Bior Samoensi Episcopo Genevensi suos in Christo visitanti dicant cives MDCCLXXXVI’, which may mean ‘Bishop Joanni Petro Bior of Geneva visited the citizens of Samoens in 1786.’ Samoens, Haute-Savoie, France.
