Khao tom mat is a popular Thai sweet dessert made of glutinous or sticky rice, ripe banana, coconut milk, wrapped and steamed-cooked in banana leaves. Black beans are also typically added. It is seen as the symbol for couples as it is bundled and wrapped as a pair. Variations of the dessert are also enjoyed in other Southeast Asian countries such as Laos, Indonesia, Vietnam and Philippines.
