At one station it appears to have been as high as 64miles an hour on the average of six hours, but this is the only instanceof an inland station where it had the force of a strong gale until thestorm again approached the sea. There do not appear to have been, in this storm, any of thoseexceptionally high rainfalls of 20 or 30 inches in the 24 hours that have been registered on certain other similar occasions. But there was an averageof 615 inches over the whole Pooree subdivision of the Cuttack dis-trict, 45 inches over that of Cuttack, and 266 inches over that ofBalasore on the latter of these days ; and of 10-56 inches, 96 inches,and 768 inches respectively on the same subdivisions in the threedays 28th to 30th June.
