Individuals mostly distinct and large, with numerous tentacles. 6. —Septa numerous, cells attached, without coen* enchyma. 7. :.—Corallum reticulate, cell-walls not distinct from surrounding cicnenchyma. 8. ^:.—Cccnenchyma abundant, compact, calcareous. 9. —Corallum compact but porous, septa distinct. The animals of the five last families are mainly instrumental in the accumulation of the great coral reefs of the intertropical seas. Only a few small species of these coral-producing Anthozoa, are found in the Northern seas.
