A Black Bear wades in a river to fish for spawning salmon, Tongass National Forest, Southeast Alaska

Each year millions of Pacific salmon return to their natal rivers of Alaska to spawn. Each year hundreds of Alaskan black bears feast on the returning salmon. The oceanic nutrients the salmon provide helps to fatten up the bears.
