Watersnood 1953] The dike hole near Herkingen op Goeree-Overflakkee, which was made in early February 1953, but was not closed in time, is now closed with basalt blocks. Attic barges with these blocks are sailed into the hole, and at great speed the pieces of basalt are then thrown into the water.
