The climate is very mild, all kinds of fruits andvegetables growing in great profusion. Coal exists inlarge bodies near the town and some excellent petroleumprospects are being developed. Gold prospecting hasbeen carried on near this place with considerable suc-cess, and a large amalgamating plant is located water of Green River is hard to control and manyHiousands of dollars have been expended in canals,wheels and other devices. A large canal will soon be con-structed and this town will become a most importantfruit HON. M. E. HUNTINGTON Huntington is the only incorporated town in Em-ery county. It is situated on a mesa on the banksof Huntington creek, and occupies a beautiful site,surrounded by the foothills of the Wasatch names of town and stream were given in honor of anold and well-known Utah pioneer, William Huntington,who explored this section years before any settlementwas made. The first attempt at forming a colony wasmade in 78, by Elias Cox, Jehu Cox, William Avery, BenJones, David Cheney and others. A postoffice was estab-lished June 14, 1S80, with Hon. M. E.
