Almost all of the robbers will alight on top of the block, and it they cau't get it away they will soon give up. Now I have never had a colony robbed since adopting this plan. They have had but one good flight since cold weather came to stay, and did not fly from all the hives then. E. D. Howell. Orange N. Y., Feb. 11. Hard Winter on Bees. This has been a very hard winter on bees. My neighbors tell me they have lost nearly all of their bees. Most of them are winter- ing on the summer stands. Mine are win- tering nicely in the cellar.
