COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (June 12, 2017)- Logistics Specialist 3rd Class James Burgess, assigned to the Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Lake Erie (CG 70), wraps a water pump hose after emptying a well to support humanitarian assistance operations in the wake of severe flooding and landslides that devastated many regions of the country. Recent heavy rainfalls brought by a southwest monsoon triggered flooding and landslides throughout the country, displacing thousands of people and causing significant damage to homes and buildings.
