No con-ventions were heldin South Carolinafrom October 23,1798, until February 20, 1804, and at thi- latter date the election of a bishop took place, whereupon the Rev. Edward Jenkins, , was unanimously elected. The bishop-elect declined the honor thus offered, persuaded that at histime of life he could not fully and faithfully discharge the duties of the episcopal office. No further attempt was made until the 20th of February, 1812, when the Rev. Theodore I)e- hon, , was elected to the long-vacant episcopate. His consecration took place on the 15th of October following, and his death on the Pith of August, 1817, in the tilth year of his episcopate. At the time. HT.
