The inscription cut into this reddish stone slab reads, SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF HIS EXCELLENCY SIR WALTER NORRIS CONGREVE ,, GOVERNOR OF MALTA BURIED AT SEA ON THE 4TH MARCH 1927 BETWEEN THIS SPOT AND FILFLA ISLAND.
