A Roman pair of gold earrings with Medusa cameos, 3rd century, Two earrings with layered agate cameos depicting the head of Medusa with wings and snakes. The box bezel setting framed by a fine openwork cymatium. An S-shaped gold wire is soldered to the reverse for attachment to the ears. Underneath it three sheet metal strips on the reverse are soldered with a decorative rib to which are attached gold-wire eyelets for three pendants.
