MODEL RELEASED. Capsule endoscope cradle. This cradle contains a capsule endoscope, which, when swallowed, provides real-time video images of the stomach and intestines using high-resolution CCD (charge-coupled device) technology. The capsule is 26 millimetres long, with an external diameter of 11 millimetres. It is switched on in the cradle by twisting a magnetic switch. This starts the 6 white light-emitting diode (LED) lights to blink on and off. The lights provide a clear field of view and automatic brightness control means illumination levels adjust to maintain optimal imaging. Over a day, the pill moves through the digestive system and the radio antenna transmits two images per second to the recorder unit, allowing disorders, such as ulcers, to be found.
