Three years after that time, when the armyof the Confederates marched from Kilkenny on Dublin, the wholecountry in the neighbourhood of Newcastle was found to be de-vastated, and Owen ONeill, who was sent to Newcastle, not beingable to live on air, retired as quickly as he came (i).
