Andrew Darbonne, an armor officer with Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2nd Squadron, 108th Cavalry Regiment, 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, from Lake Charles, Louisiana, approaches the finish line of a 12-mile ruck march during a spur ride at Al Asad Air Base in western Iraq on August 1, 2021. Soldiers participating in the traditional event to join the Order of the Spur were allowed to remove their rucksacks partway through the warm morning, but completed the 12 miles wearing their vest and gear weighing more than 30 pounds.
