Wearable computer. Researcher Thad Starner wearing his head-mounted MicroOptical device. This device projects an image that appears in the operator's field of vision. Starner uses his to project a screen display from his computer and uses a hand- held keyboard to access data and functions such as a diary. Starner has worn versions of his computer since 1993. He pioneered wearable computers at MIT and now works at Georgia Institute of Technology, USA. Wearable technology aims to develop and integrate computing and mobile phone technology, to design new interfaces, and to miniaturize the devices so that they are worn as naturally as a watch is today.
