Lonar in Maharashtra is the site of an ancient meteor crash. It also has some spectacular old temples. This is a vew from the hill top.


About 50,000 years ago a large meteor had crashed into Lonar created a large cirular crater. Now the crater is full of alkaline water and is surrounded by some 10 temples buildty from 5th to 9th century AD out of stones cut into shape.
