I have mver used it, butcan see how it might be serviceable in exploring the vaginal walls. Neu-gebauers double-crescent speculum (or double shoe-horn speculum, as itmight be called) is represented in Fig. 72. It can be used either on theback or in the lateral position, the posterior blade being introduced firstand the anterior slipped into it, as shown in the diagram. Both handsare required to hold the blades, which will do for diagnosis, but rendersthe instrument unsuitable for operations unless an assistant be present tohold one blade. What its advantage over Sims speculum is does not. A
