While we ]»refer to limit the length of the returns in a gravity liot water system to 2r)() feet, yet in tlie present case, witli a distance of about nine feet between the level of the returns and the bottom of the cellar, we would not liesi- tate to use coils 300 feet in length. However, we would be exceedingly care- ful not to overload the flow i)ipes, which should be either 2M> or 3-inch. One 21^-inch or two 2-inch returns may be used with each 2i^>-inch flow pipe, or either three 2-inch or two 2%-inch re- turns may be used with a 3-ineh flow pipe. In an extensive range of greenhouses, and where electric power is available for pumping the water, we would prefer to put in an electric pump rather than rely upon a gravity system in long houses. In tliat case a 2-inch flow jiipe would supply four l^'jinch returns. Five flows, each supplying four returns, would answer in a house 30x300 if a pumping system is installed.
