District Reports of Constructionand Maintenance FIRST DISTRICTCONSTRUCTION This district is composed of the following counties: Beaufort, Bertie,Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Edgecombe, Gates, Halifax, Hertford,Hyde, Martin, Nash, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Pitt, Tyrell andWashington. The district is in charge of J. C. Gardner, district engineer,with headquarters at Tarboro. Construction is in charge of A. Snyder, con-struction engineer, while maintenance is in charge of L. B. McDaniel, main-tenance engineer. Beaufort The only road under construction in this county at present is Project , located on route No. 30, between Washington and the Martin County line, miles in length. The pavement is of reinforced concrete, 18 feet wide ona 30-foot roadbed, and will cost approximately $370,000. Bertie Construction in Bertie County consists of Federal Aid 86-A and B. Project86-A, consisting of a 30-foot
