Cosmos flowers are compositae originating in Argentina, but spread to South Africa by British troups in 1899 in horse fodder

Beautiful pink cosmos flowers blooming in March in South Africa. Originally from Argentina, brought here in horse fodder by British soldiers in Anglo Boer War of 1899. Became a pest in Highveld grassland, but is spectacular in autumn in high lying areas of South Africa and Zimbabwe.
