The present boundary betweenthe towns of Kinderhook and Chatham runs through Roundand Kinderhook lakes. Both of these connected lakesare supplied partly by their own springs, and partly bysmall streams which have their sources in Rensselaer County. The outlet of Kinderhook Lake is at the southern endand was known to the fathers as the Vollitjes Kill. Thistakes a winding southwest course of nearly three miles tothe village of Valatie and there empties into the much largerKinderhook Creek. The numerous fountains of this latternotable creek are widely scattered and many of them faraway; some in Rensselaer County, others among the hillsof New Lebanon and near the Massachusetts border. Themost considerable feeder in New Lebanon is the Wyamo-nock Creek. Our creek, flowing with many windings in agenerally southwest course through the town of Chatham, welcomes, near the Kinderhook line, the waters of the Kleine. Kinderhook Lake
