The Shim Sham Cabaret, 37 Wardour Street, London W. The Shim Sham club opened in 1935 as a 'bottle party' members' club in Soho. In 1937 the venue changed its name to the Rainbow Roof (later becoming the Flamingo Club). The Shim Sham's acceptance of same sex (gay & lesbian) couples & black and white couples / dancing resulted in police surveillance & raids. This card includes photos of New York born co-owner & musician Isaac (Ike) Hatch, Trinidadian George "Happy" Blake & his band, musician Hetty Booth, & cocktail waiter Cyril.
