In November, 1899, financial distress overtook the famouspublishing-house of Harper & Brothers, and Col. Harvey, at the solicitation ofall parties in interest, ? undertook the task of reorganization. Within two years hesucceeded beyond the ex^pectations of himself or anybody else, and the house isnow more prosperous than ever before in its long history. Besides being presi-dent and chief owner of the publishing concern, he is the editor of HarpersWeekly.
