View NNE of the massive limestone capstone of Lligwy Neolithic burial chamber, Anglesey, Wales, UK, supported on low stones over a partly rock-cut pit: the capstone is a metre thick, weighs 25 tons ( tonnes) & is up to (6ft) above the chamber bottom. Unburnt bones of up to 30 men, women & children were found in the chamber in two black-earth layers separated by paving. Pottery fragments, animal bones, flint implements, limpet & mussel shells & a bone pin were also found in the 1909 excavations. The entrance is at the E (the hidden side on the R) between the two largest support stones.
