The work has been so developed under the administra-tion of Prof. Wiley that there is now an enrollment of 900 anda teaching force of twelve. He is in fact Superintendent of allthe colored public schools of Valdosta. A commodious buildinghas been erected, and the system improved in every way. Heconducts the Teachers Institute each year for both Valdosta andLowndes county. He has been active in the work of the A. M. E. Church sinceboyhood. From his study and observation of conditions among his peo-ple, he has concluded that the things which most retard them arecriminality and extravagance. He believes that these are to beremedied only tfirongh Christian and industrial training. On June 6, 1906, Prof. Wiley was married to Miss LucileFrances Dixon, of Savannah. She, too, is a graduate of theState College and a capable teacher. They own a home at Val-dosta. Prof. Wiley early inclined toward public speaking; havingbeen an active member of the literary societies during his schooldays.
