Plastic sheeting covering the dome at El Capitolio - National Assembly of PeopleÕs Power (National Capitol Building) in Paseo del Prado (Paseo de Martí) in Havana, Cuba. It is undergoing a major restoration programme which is making slow progress due to the embargo. Most materials are imported to Cuba from Western Europe and Mexico. It is planned to complete the restoration in time for 500th birthday anniversary of Havana in November 2019. El Capitolio is the country’s seat of government. The location of the Parliament, is at one end, and the Chamber of Deputies at the other. Since the 1959 revolution, El Capitolio has been used as the Cuban Academy of Sciences and other state institutions.
