The carnival season brought thou- s^ds of visitors to our delightful city, and the elegant balls and receptions given by the different carnival organi- zations, clubs and private parties led the florists, especially the storekeepers, a busy life. AH the flower stores were lavishly decorated with the choicest products of the season and from every- where satisfactory business results have been reported. During the present month all kinds of weather were experienced here— frost, rain and sunshine, sometimes all on one day, and on the afternoon of February 16 there was a hail storm, brief in its duration, but heavy enough to cause anxiety among the florists and truck farmers. At present we are enjoy- iiipj real spring weather. Bull>ous stock is still plentiful and the first Italian and miniature Dutch hyacinths arc making their appearance. Single violets, pansies, candytuft, etc., are the outdoor flowers to be cut here at present, though they are seldom in great demand. There is great activity among the truck farmers and the local products are bringing top-notch prices. The bad weather up to now hurt our lettuce crops again and endive and escarolle are still showing the efl!ects of the frost. Other goods are in fair supplv. ASPARAGUS PLUMOSUS NANUS SEED NEW CROP.
