ARTERIAL ANGIOPLASTY, ILLUST.

Angioplasty is a surgical technic used for the treatment of aterial stenosis (coronaries arteries or renal mainly). There are 2 kinds of angioplasty, by surgical way or by transcutaneous way. In the first case an incision is praticed and the sick segment of the vein and is replaced by a fragment of healthy vein. In the second case a balloon catheter is introduced with the aid of a catheter. At the level of the stricture the balloon catheter is blown, which compresses the plaque of atheroma. When the bloodstream has returned to normal the catheter is removed. Here, we see an angioplasty by transcutaneous way.
