Thick-headed fly (Myopa buccata) waiting for a bumblebee to parasitise
A thick-headed fly, these are endoparasites of bumble-bees and this one was waiting in prime position on a pyracantha flower bud. The plant is in blossom now, and smothered in insects including bumblebees. This one was as aware of me as it's prey and wouldn't let me get closer than this!
