Work began on the construction of a new runway at Gaydon Airfield in early 1952. This was followed by a second contract for the construction of more than 100 Easiform and Air Ministry buildings. These included an air traffic control tower, five boiler houses, airmen's huts, messes, and a NAAFI. The largest Easiform building on the site was a training centre, which had a floor area of almost 3,000
