A gray seal, Halichoerus grypus, in Chatham Harbor on Cape Cod, Chatham, Massachusetts. Also know as a grey seal and a horsehead for the shape of its snout. As the seal population in the sea and ocean surrounding Cape Cod has grown, so have shark sightings of great white sharks in the sea surrounding Cape Cod, a popular tourist destination, with several beaches being closed during the summer due to shark sightings.
