Rash on the face of a female patient with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Lupus is a chronic auto-immune disease that can affect any part of the body. The name of the disease comes from the characteristic wolf-mask effect of the facial rash. The symptoms are high temperature, fatigue, depression, facial rash, breathing difficulties, arrhythmia, heart failure, swelling of the kidneys, sensitivity to the sun, muscle pain and swelling of the joints.
