Of all the fine intellectual arts held in the greatest esteemby the people of Vancouver, music certainly ranks first. Be-sides the excellent local brass bands, a strong association ofamateurs are banded together under the capable directorshipof Mr. Fred. W. Dyke. A Choral Society, of 140 voices and anorchestra of 45 instruments all of more or less training andknowledge, have been rehearsing some of those rich, seriousand modern compositions admired in the critical world of society has already done some capital work, is growing,and gives evidence of improvement year by year.
