Total lunar eclipse. This event occurs when the Sun, Moon and Earth become aligned, with the Earth between the Moon and the Sun. The Earth's atmosphere refracts some of the longer wavelengths (red light) of the Sun, giving the moon its red colour. Photographed in the Zagros mountains, Iran, 10th of December 2011.
