The Inn dates from the C16th, one of the first farm houses in the area to be granted a licence to act as a public house: the ghost of farmhand John Henry still haunts the premises. The hamlet is named for the circular hollow (cwm) on the hillside, it is considered to have been a site of Christian worship since the C7th. The present church, dedicated to two C6th Breton-Welsh missionaries, is mainly C14th & later.
