In 1517 Martin Luther reputedly posted 95 Theses on the door of Wittenberg Schlosskircke which led to the first Protestant worship being held here in 1521. Luther's tombstone together with that of his fellow reformer Philipp Melanchthon, lie within. The Late Gothic church designed by Konrad Pflueger, was built between 1489 and 1511 as part of Frederick the Wise's Renaissance Schloss complex.
