A kilij, Ottoman, circa 1800. Heavy blade, widening toward the point (somewhat stained) with chiselled back. Gold inlaid arabesque decoration on both sides of the ricasso with an inscription cartouche on the obverse side. Iron quillons with two horn grip plates. Original (slightly worn) sword knot with cloth grip covering. The wooden scabbard is covered in the middle with shagreen leather (some blemishes) and has somewhat corroded iron furniture.
