22/10/16 Amy and Geoff Cotterell with their baby Harriet, outside the spookiest house in Britain. As Halloween approaches, and the nights draw in, it may send a shiver down your spine just walking over ÔHanging BridgeÕ, strolling along Hollow Lane before spotting the sign for Gallowstree Lane. Full story here: But itÕs not just these creepy road names that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up as one of the homes in Gallowstree Lane is set in the middle of a very spooky graveyard. The house, situated in the heart of Upper Mayfield village on the edge of the Staffordshire Moorlands, comes complete with creaking wrought iron gate and used to be a Wesleyan Methodist church. That was before Geoff and Amy Cotterell bought it in 2006, with a view to making it a comfortable family home, appropriately named The Old Chapel.
