Hemor-rhagic- symptoms, the bleeding time, the platelet count and blood coagu-lation were studied in all cases which displayed a pathologic tendency tobleed, seen during the past three years. In many of the cases no abnor-mality of the blood could be discovered. In a certain group, however, the platelet count was constantly and enormously reduced. This groupdiffered in many respects from the group having normal counts; in fact,. foVlK- r~-i So / \ 7o / VO r 3o -J30- _*10 Tl / J ai-o*«o 3-^V ^s >%~--*-~ -n /oooo* h .../ A r v_y Fii -( hart of Case 1. it became possible from the history and examination of a patient withwell marked hemorrhagic diathesis, to correctly predict whether the plate-let count was aboul normal or was greatly reduced. Subsequent discussionwill be confined to the platelet-free group of cases, a detailed report ofthirteen of which is as follows: (ask 1.—Idiopathic purpura hemorrhagica with result of transfusion.
