Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT). Time-exposure image of the NOT at the Roque de los Muchachos observatory on La Palma in the Canary Islands. See here are the light trails made by the Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) of the telescope's instruments, and star trails through the dome's opened viewing slit. This telescope observes at optical and infrared wavelengths. It stands in an diameter dome at an altitude of 2382 metres, making it the highest telescope on La Palma. The NOT is jointly operated by institutions in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
