Johne's disease research. Cow at a research centre where it has been naturally infected with the bacterium Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis. This causes the condition known as Johne's disease. This cow, part of a study herd, is in the late stages of disease and has typical clinical signs such as weight loss, watery diarrhoea, and general poor health.
