Invergordon, Scotland, UK. 10th August, 2014. Normand Oceanic is a deepwater subsea operations service vessel lined up in the Cromarty Firth for repair & refurbishment. Optimised sea-keeping hull for fast transit speed and low fuel consumption. Ice class C rating which allows for operations in both the Barents sea and Northern North Sea in Scottish port.

The Normand Oceanic is newly built and especially designed and equipped for subsea operations in deep water. It is equipped with a 400t crane and its DNV clean design makes it environmentally friendly low on fuel consumption. • Length x Breadth • Deck area 2,100m² • Heave compensated 400t crane • DP3 class positioning • Accommodation for 140 people • Maximum speed knots. Cromarty Firth has long been an important haven, being sheltered, deep, easily defended and very large. This was recognised by the Royal Navy through both first and second world wars. In more recent decades it has been associated with the North Sea oil boom, with both Nigg and Invergordon being used as service and construction yards. For many years this was signified by the string of rigs moored along the length of the Firth and readily visible from Cromarty. The rise in oil prices meant that by early 2007 the world demand for oil rigs was very high and there was no longer a surplus needing to be parked here. A number have since returned.
